When I was a little girl I had an entire speech memorized to tell people what I wanted to be when I grew up. It went something like, “When I grow up I want to be a travel agent so I can tell people where to go on their vacations.” Most kids want to be firefighters, dentists, police officers, or superheroes. I happened to be more focused on what made me happy and what I enjoyed doing, even though my family never really went on vacations. I think that people should do whatever it is that gives them butterflies. What makes you want to get out of bed in the morning? For me, that’s learning new things everyday. I want to be surrounded by the unknown and the ability to find the answers to the unknown.

Is there a perfect job out there for everyone? Maybe, maybe not. For me it’s working in between shelves filled with the smell of old books. Now that I think about it, deciding to be a librarian was inevitable. Instead of grounding me from seeing friends as a kid, my mom took my books from me and made me socialize with non-fictional characters. I don’t know if I believe in destiny or fate, but this is definitely what I was made for.
